Position: Bosun

Location: Nancy-Jean Motor Yacht, Tasmania, Australia

About the Position:

Are you a skilled and experienced deckhand looking to take on a leadership role aboard a luxury motor yacht? Nancy-Jean is currently seeking a dedicated Bosun to join our professional crew in Tasmania, Australia, for a one-year duration. As the Bosun, you will play a vital role in supervising and coordinating deck operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of all exterior areas of the yacht.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate deck operations, including mooring, anchoring, and tender operations.
• Lead and mentor deck crew members, assigning tasks and providing training and guidance as needed.
• Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of exterior areas, including decks, hull, and equipment.
• Conduct safety drills and maintain safety equipment in compliance with maritime regulations.
• Assist with water sports activities, including setting up and operating water toys and equipment.
• Stand watch and assist with navigational tasks under the direction of the officer on duty.
• Provide excellent guest service and hospitality, including assisting with guest embarkation and disembarkation.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working as a deckhand on yachts or similar vessels, with previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Basic knowledge of deck operations, safety procedures, and seamanship principles.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks in a marine environment.
• Valid STCW certification, including Basic Safety Training and Proficiency in Designated Security Duties.
• CPR, First Aid, and Advanced Firefighting certifications preferred.
